Company history
Important years in our company history, from the very beginning.
| year | |
Starting out as an idea from Kim André Akerø in his early student days, without a name. A few minor applications were made for the Commodore 64 computer.
A name was given to this small enterprise, "Spacecom" (several rewrites of the name in the following years, yet no affiliation whatsoever with the satellite service provider by the same name).
First website was created to distribute his software, now also available for the Windows platform. Website hosting was provided by a close friend of his, Lars Fugelseth.
Enterprise name was changed to "Wairdoe Softare" due to the discovery of a satellite service provider with the same name he had used (on his own initiative, no legal claims were filed). Name was changed later this year to "imPRESSion Software".
Name changed further to KeZe NET, and second domain name was registered (the first being KIMANDRE.COM in 1996). A hosting account was purchased at ProHosting, which still is in use by this website (2004).
Kim ends his time as a student, and largely enters the world of unemployment. The wish to keep the business alive lands him some work on his own for a few individuals.
Official registration of Kim's company (in the Norwegian business registry), and a new name was established; KAA Design. At the same time, KAA.NO was registered.
Domain registration for KEZE.NET and KIMANDRE.COM was lost, but re-acquired a few months later at a cheaper domain registrar.
Company name officially changed to "Betadome Digital Media" in November to reflect the wish to provide additional services in the future.
First virtual dedicated server added to the company server system. Web hosting started in small terms.
Second virtual dedicated server purchased. First fully dedicated server added to the company server system. Web hosting improved even more.
Deal signed with Payex for credit card payment processing and to allow for additional payment methods for our customers.
