Privacy policy

Last updated: February 3, 2004.

If you have questions and/or complaints about our privacy policy, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Disclaimer

Please note that this privacy policy only regards directly to our company web site, including our web-based products and product information. It does not apply to hosted web sites not maintained by Betadome Digital Media. These hosted web sites must provide their own privacy policy for their visitor and customer security. Hosted web sites may copy and/or reference to this privacy policy only if they provide a short statement that they agree to and abide by the same privacy policy.

Tracking information

On your visit throughout the site, the web server only collects anonymous statistics data about your visit. You are not identified until you choose to do so, either by registering and logging in to the forum, or by logging in to our admin panel for customers.

If and when you pass the Turing test at any location of our website, a cookie will be set in your browser only to signify that you have passed this test, and that you won't have to take the test again. This cookie contains non-identifiable information; close examination of the cookie will disclose a number - this is only our unique organization number, found in the European Business Register and Brønnøysundsregistrene (the Norwegian register authority). Our organization number only identifies ourselves as a registered business, and does not identify you on your visit to our website. If you change to a different translation of our website, you may have to take the Turing test again (once per language). The Turing test identifier cookie is set to expire a long time in the future (maximum expiry time). The Turing test is to help us stop unwanted harvesting software (a common tool for spammers and confidence schemers) from gaining access to our contact information. More information about what the Turing test is about can be found here.

Your contact information

At a certain point, we might ask you for contact information details. The contact information you provide will only be used for contacting you regarding your account and the services you use from us. We will not sell or share your contact information to anyone at any price. Neither will we inform you of related services without your request for the information. We will, however, inform you of changes that may affect your account. If you prefer these kind of details via regular mail instead, or not at all, please do contact us with the necessary information.

The e-mail address you use to register for an account in the forum is used only to confirm a unique identity (that you are indeed a person, and that the e-mail address is yours), as well as e-mailing you updates regarding the forum (optional subscription, not subscribed by default). The use of a valid e-mail address is required to avoid bots and similar software from registering, as we wish to keep all parts of our forum free from spam and other advertisements not under our control. As a standard forum security setting, all e-mail addresses are hidden from the public and other members. This cannot be changed by the individual user. Other forum members may contact you via the forum system, and you may choose whether you'd like to be notified of new messages to you in the forum.

Advertising

Advertising done internally (ie. sold and operated on websites under our control) are generated by scripts while the page is loaded, and nothing is sent by our server hidden to the visitor. When using external advertising services, we only use TradeDoubler for Norwegian-only sites, or Commission Junction for international sites. We do not take responsibility for information collected by external advertising bureaus, so we encourage you to read the privacy policies for each of those.

Financial information

Upon request we provide our site visitors with access to view and/or modify any kind of information that is maintained about them, such as unique identifier information (user name, customer number, password, PIN numbers), transaction information (dates, amounts and type of purchases) and contact information. Banking information is processed by the customer's bank and our bank and is not kept by us. Credit card transactions are currently processed by PayPal, which means that we do not have records regarding credit card information. Please visit PayPal to display and read their privacy policy. To view and/or modify our records about you, please visit our customer admin. You will find login information in an e-mail message or a letter (if no e-mail address was provided) marked "customer login". You'll also find your order history and a list of unpaid invoices in the customer admin. As an alternative, you may also contact us requesting information what we have on file about you in our records. When returning such a contact request, we will only respond to you using the information already contained in our records, so please specify how you wish to receive the requested information (e-mail, fax, phone, regular mail) in your information request.

Changes to our policies

From time to time, we may use customer information for new, unanticipated uses not previously disclosed in our privacy notice. If our information practices change at some time in the future we will post the policy changes to our Web site to notify you of these changes and provide you with the ability to opt out of these new uses. If you are concerned about how your information is used, you should check back at our web site periodically. Customers may prevent their information from being used for purposes other than those for which is was originally collected by contacting us.

Complaints

If you feel that this site is not following its stated information policy, you may contact us, state/local chapters of the Better Business Bureau, or state/local consumer protection office.
